Water conservation

Water at REC Hubs is generated when hydrogen is processed in hydrogen fuel cells. For each kg of hydrogen used to generate power, approximately 9 kg of water is required. If all hydrogen is used to produce power via hydrogen fuel cells from an annual production of 4,500 t of hydrogen, annual water yield of 30kt is possible in parallel with producing renewable power.

Deployed as methanol to support conversion in stationary and mobile equipment, water produced in hydrogen fuel cells can find other applications according to each situation.

The viability of a water generation and capture system forms part of the circular economic value proposition for HPAG technology applications.  Water purity is high and therefore presents low challenges for permitting.

Our technology is modular and scalable across multiple dimensions. Whether it is to match your other resource recycling strategies, your demand aspirations for the hydrogen produced, or your local community size. Gasifier units are able to be incrementally added to suit your circumstances.

Our small plant footprint (less than the one-third of the size of your local Bunnings store), positive environmental impacts and limited inter-dependencies requiring limited water and land provides maximum optionality for site locations.

Whether that is nearby to your existing resource recycling centre, landfill site, power transmission or electricity distribution infrastructure, existing pipelines, local refuelling station, or transport routes.
